The edit every listener notices — without noticing

Nobody ever praised a podcast for its pauses. Dead air between thoughts, gaps while a guest unmutes, the silence while someone checks notes — listeners experience all of it as slack pacing, and it is the first thing professional editors remove. Doing it by hand means scrubbing an hour of waveform; this tool does the same pass automatically in minutes.

A typical unedited episode loses 10–25% of its length — pure dead air — while every word stays intact. Your episode never leaves your machine, which matters when it contains unreleased or sponsored material. Follow up with the volume normalizer to hit the -16 LUFS podcast standard and the episode is publish-ready.

Frequently asked questions

Will it ruin the natural rhythm of a conversation?

The Medium preset only cuts pauses longer than about half a second below the loudness threshold, and it always keeps a small margin around each cut — conversational beats survive, dead air does not. If your show has a deliberately slow pace, use Light; for a tight, fast-cut style use Strong.

My podcast is recorded as a video call. Does that work?

Yes — drop the video in and choose the audio-only export. It skips the video re-encode entirely, processes fast, and gives you a clean audio file ready for your podcast host.

Should I remove silence before or after other editing?

Run it on your near-final edit, after cutting content but before loudness normalization. That way the detection sees the real pauses your listeners would hear, and the normalizer measures the tightened episode.

Is it really free?

Yes. The silence remover is completely free, with no signup, watermarks, or limits. We make money from our video translation service, not from this tool.

Do you upload my files?

No. The silence removal happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device — you can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.
