How it works

1

Drop your recording

It stays on your device — nothing is uploaded.

2

Silence detected & cut locally

Silent gaps are found and removed right in your browser via WebAssembly.

3

Download the result

See how much dead air was cut, then download for free — no watermark.

From raw recording to tight audio in one step

Voice memos, dictations, interview recordings, and practice takes all share the same problem: the pauses are recorded too. Long gaps make files longer to listen to, larger to store, and slower to transcribe. Automatic silence removal deletes exactly those stretches and nothing else — the speech itself is untouched.

Because the processing is local, there is no upload limit dance and no privacy question: an hour-long recording processes quickly right in the browser, and the file never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Does the MP3 stay an MP3?

Yes — MP3 in, MP3 out (WAV also keeps its format; other formats are saved as M4A). The audio is re-encoded once at 192 kbps, which is indistinguishable for speech.

How are the cuts decided?

A section is cut when it stays below a loudness threshold for a minimum duration — with Medium, roughly half a second. A small margin is kept around every cut so words never start abruptly. Three presets let you trade caution against tightness.

Can I preview before downloading?

Yes — the result plays side by side with the original in the browser, and the summary shows exactly how many seconds were removed. If it cut too much or too little, switch presets and re-process instantly.

Is it really free?

Yes. The silence remover is completely free, with no signup, watermarks, or limits. We make money from our video translation service, not from this tool.

Do you upload my files?

No. The silence removal happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device — you can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.
