How it works

1

Drop your video

Any common format — MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, and more. It stays on your device.

2

Pick a target format

The tool checks your file's codecs and tells you upfront whether the conversion is an instant repackage or a re-encode.

3

Download the result

Preview the converted video and download it — free, no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The converter is completely free, with no signup, watermarks, or limits. We make money from our video translation service, not from this tool.

Do you upload my files?

No. The conversion happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device — you can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

Why are some conversions instant and others slow?

A video file is a container (MP4, MKV, ...) holding compressed video and audio streams. When the target container accepts your file's streams, they're simply repackaged — no quality loss, done in seconds. When it doesn't (like VP9 video into MP4), the video must be re-encoded, which runs at roughly the video's length in your browser. The tool tells you which case applies before you start.

Will the quality change?

Repackaged conversions are bit-for-bit lossless. Re-encoded conversions use a high-quality setting that is visually indistinguishable for most footage.

Which format should I pick?

MP4 plays everywhere and is the safe default. MOV suits Apple editing workflows, MKV is best for archiving and media servers, and WebM is the open format for web embedding.
